Operational Committee
Meeting Minutes September 1, 2007
In Attendance: Margarite Batease, Dawn
Willard, Lucy Beverly and Yvonne Weston.
August 4th
minutes approved as read.
Topics Discussed:
1. Resolved.
Completed research has shown it is best to keep the money market account
with Bank of America. We do not have the minimum balance required to reap the
benefits of higher interest rates and continuing our good record with B of A
could help with possible future transactions.
2. Resolved. In examination of our efforts with outside
marketing showing minimal results, we are redirecting our intention back to
allowing Spirit to bring in new people through our daily lives. In updating the
website, Margarite has reminded us even in “marketing” our aim is Service, not
the marketing. Let Service guide our choices.
3. Resolved. With the completion of the DNA Wednesday
night group, the center is re-opening it’s doors to
new members with an introductory group on Wednesday September 12th. Please
pass on this opportunity.
4. A year has passed since the coming together of the
committee and it has been an educational experience for us all. As is the nature of life, things have changed
including the original premise - which
was to learn and assist with the inner workings of running the center as a
team, giving Margarite some personal
time and be ready for the eventuality of her leaving. Time has showed us we need to redefine our
focus to one of volunteering with time and skills instead of “taking over”. We
will continue to meet for a monthly luncheon intending to flow more instead of
planned agendas.
5. Looking
at the accounts we were told that we need to do more funding raising
as Donations had dropped this year. Margarite pointed out we cannot rely on the
fees alone to cover the expenses of running the center.
With no other
business, the meeting was adjourned.
